A few months ago Samsung announced the Galaxy Premier. Today we are reviewing the phone! At the time of this review, the device is only available in Russia and Ukraine.
We expect that the Galaxy Premier will be on the market in Europe and Asia this month if it ever will be released in europe.

The Samsung Galaxy Premier sits right between the Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III in terms of size, but this device got its design features from the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S III mini. As previously mentioned in our review of the Galaxy S III there are many people who think that the Galaxy S III is a little too big. What we see now days that screens are getting bigger and bigger, it is expected that in 2013 a screen size of 5.0” is normal for any high-end device.

The Galaxy Premier uses a 4.65” screen and is the same size as the Galaxy Nexus but smaller as the Galaxy S III where the Galaxy S III is using a 4.8” screen.
In every size Samsung wants to have a top device, it can be said that this could be one of those top devices. White is the new black according to the last summit Samsung devices, still sorry to see that the devices can not be brought on to the market in the traditional black or silver-gray. In our opinion this device does looks much nicer than the Galaxy S III.

What we will discuss in our review of the Galaxy Premier?

Because we of SamMobile think that this device belongs in the same category as the Galaxy S III Mini and right under Galaxy S III, we will place a list of specifications of the 3 devices. Which are from  left to right. Galaxy S III – Premier Galaxy – Galaxy S III Mini

Appearance / Hardware
As mentioned earlier the Galaxy Premier sits exactly between the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S III mini. We can conclude this from comparing this phone to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S III mini. The Galaxy Premier uses the design line of the Galaxy S III, only this time Samsung gave preference to white, so let’s discuss every side of the Galaxy Premier.
- The front.
The Galaxy Premier uses a 4.65” sAMOLED display with an HD resolution. At the upper side of  the display we see the speaker, sensors and front-facing camera with a resolution of 1.9 mega pixel. At the bottom there is the Home button and touch buttons only noticeable when the camera is turned on.
- The Back.
What sits at the back of the Galaxy Premier is especially the 8 megapixel camera with LED flash. And the speaker that Samsung has posted at left side from the bottom and of course Samsung uses its own logo just like they did at the front.
-From the left to the right.
At the left side of the phone we see the volume rocker and at the right side of the device we see lock button/power button.
From top to bottom.
Samsung placed at the top of the phone a 3.5 audio jack and also see a microphone. At the bottom of the Premier Galaxy we find the second microphone and a Micro USB charging point.
Overall the Galaxy Premier has a real classy look and the device is razor-thin. With its beautiful chrome bezel all the way around you really have premium look and feel.

Samsung uses its own Touch Wiz Nature UX interface on the Galaxy Premier. This is the same interface we know from the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini, Galaxy Note II and the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II. Samsung will come with the same interface update for Galaxy Note next month. What is particularly pleasing to the Nature UX interface is that everything looks good. All icons are beautiful and there are natural effects in Touch Wiz Nature UX on Galaxy Premier. So you have for example a water ripple effect to unlock your device. We have seen these features before on the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini and Galaxy Note II.
Going through the interface goes without effort the unit responds quickly to all the present features. The Galaxy Premier runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Due Jelly Beans project Butter every animation is really fluid even on this Dual Core Cpu. Samsung Galaxy Premier is delivered with Samsung’s own chat service chaton, chaton is not very well-known in Europe but Chaton’s  users are increasing steadily.  You can compare chaton with WhatsApp only Chaton has many more features than WhatsApp. Unfortunately, not everyone knows this and still uses WhatsApp. The Touch Wiz UX Nature also uses many shortcuts. Example, you can open your camera application without going all the way through the menu Just enable motion controls and put your finger on the lockscreen and turn your device and “tadaa” you’re in the camera. These functions can also be modified or even removed. Below is a short film about going through the Galaxy Premier’s interface.

Special functions.
The Galaxy Premier has many smart functions in the Touch Wiz Nature UX, below we will discuss some of  them.

Smart Stay
With the innovative Smart Stay feature, Galaxy Premier automatically recognises when you are looking at the phone, whether it is to read an e-book or browse the web. The front camera looks deep into your eyes and maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure. What a bright idea. Samsung use the front camera for this function.

Smart Alert
When you pick up your phone, wouldn’t it be nice if it let you know what has been happening since you’ve been gone? Samsung Galaxy Premier knows you came back and gives you a brief vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and new messages. How thoughtful is that?

S Voice
Samsung’s advanced natural language recognition software, lets you use your voice to unlock the phone with simple customised commands, or to play your favourite songs, turn the volume up or down, organise your schedule, or automatically launch the camera and start taking photos.
S voice is available in English, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Korean

Direct call
Samsung Galaxy Premier even knows when you want to talk. When you are messaging someone and decide to call instead, simply lift your phone to your ear and Direct call will dial their number for you. No more fumbling through call logs or contacts. Let Samsung Galaxy Premier do the work.

Sharing your content with friends nearby should be easy, quick and even fun. S-Beam lets you bond instantly so you can transfer documents, contacts, pictures, music, videos, you name it. Just put the backs of two Galaxy Premier phones together, connect, share and enjoy. Only possible by NFC Enabled version of the Galaxy Premier

Pop up Play
Picture-in-picture technology lets you watch an HD video in another window while sending an email or text simultaneously. Drag it to where you want on the screen, and chat with your friends or surf the web. Don’t miss any of the action.

Best Photo
Samsung Galaxy Premier knows the best look, making sure you never miss a smile or catch someone when they’re blinking. It automatically takes a burst of 8 shots guaranteeing the best one every time.

The Galaxy Premier uses a 4.65” Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280  which means a HD resolution. The screen has a pixel density of 316 a little bit better than the Galaxy S III which has a density of 306ppi(pixel per inch). The colors of the device are really vivid thanks to Samsung’s own Super AMOLED technology, especially black is black. The AMOLED screens from Samsung are still very special. Because only the high-end devices from Samsung uses AMOLED screens so that is one of the unique selling point. Not only is AMOLED so good in color but certainly for your battery. AMOLED technology is in fact more efficient.

Samsung Galaxy Premier has an 8 megapixel camera placed on its back, through this 8 megapixel camera sensor it can take photos and record movies at high resolutions. If you want to take pictures in dark conditions, this is also will be possible because Samsung next to the 8 megapixel camera sensor there is a LED flash. This will make a small space sufficiently illuminated. Below are some photos taken by the Galaxy Premier. Among the pictures of a video taken by the Galaxy Premier.

Battery and speed
Samsung uses a 2100mAh battery, the battery of the Galaxy Premier holds up very well. We could at least get two days with a full charge without compromising usage. Samsung uses a 1.5 GHz Dual-Core processor so speed is no issue here. Thanks to Samsung’s latest touch wiz UX which is obviously Android OS 4.1.1 Jellybean, the whole UI is really fluid. Of course we see the differences if we compare it to the quad-core processor from the Galaxy Note II and the processor of the Galaxy Premier, but in terms of the price ratio of the processor it scores pretty well.

So what can we conclude from the Galaxy Premier?
Is this a top device ? Well it could be seen as top device, however, it comes too late to let people believe it. The Galaxy S III is already a half-year on the market where the Galaxy Premier still has to come to the most markets. Since the introduction of the Galaxy S III we complained about the big screen, 6 months later a 4.8” screen seems to be normal. However the Galaxy Premier has its advantages like it is more suitable for women because of the smaller screen. The Galaxy S III is perhaps Samsung’s flagship at this time but we expect  that the Galaxy Premier certainly will do its part on the market. Not only are the looks of this device just fine its price is right too. However, we expect spirited competition for this device ,as Samsung also has a Galaxy S III Mini on the market but that one is a little smaller. If you still hesitate between the Galaxy S III in terms of big and the Galaxy S III mini terms of smallness, the Galaxy Premier is THE device for you!
