The Samsung Galaxy Note – and yes, I’m referring to the original Note that debuted on AT&T in early 2012 – is receiving a big update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean beginning today. AT&T has announced that it has made Jelly Bean available through the Samsung Kies PC and Mac application, so customers can download and install Android 4.1 on a Galaxy Note by following the instructions outlined here.

Android 4.1 adds new features that were previously available only on the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III, including PopUp note, a feature that lets users write notes while on a phone call. It also supports Popup Video to perform other simultaneous tasks like watch a video and text at the same time, Google Now to get personalized search, enhanced notifications to get additional information and reply to text messages directly from the notification panel. A number of performance enhancements and bug fixes are also included.
